Remembrance and Vigilance
It was early, I was up to see the NBC interview with former GE CEO, Jack Welch, he was always a good barometer about how the business world was going.
Out in the sun room I watched the interview but as they finished the camera didn’t go back to Matt & Katie, it was on the Twin Towers, one of them on fire, smoke bellowing out of it. It took Matt & Katie quite a while to figure out they weren’t on camera, but when they did, it was nonsense from them, which was normal. Little real info was coming in about the towers, just that they “thought” a plane had “accidentally” struck one of them, then we realized it was no accident as we watched the second plane intentionally fly into the second tower. Never in my life had I felt so vulnerable, so helpless, so scared, this was no accident, we were under attack.
The reports of the other planes came in, but we were still focused on the Towers, I was frozen, watching people jump from the flaming buildings rather than being burned to death, 3,000+ INNOCENT American MURDERED by islam and their irrational hate for our nation.
Despite the danger, despite that this was an attack on our nation by a global enemy, the First Responders went into incredible action, many losing their lives trying to do their jobs.
We can never forget the job that our First Responders did that day, the whole world saw them for the amazing heroes they are, ready to sacrifice it all, like soldiers, at a moments notice to do their duty and rescue those in need.
As they searched for survivors, they raised the American Flag to symbolize that they would never give up just our nation should never give up and never forget those lost on that terrible day. This was a new generations version of the Flag raising at Iwo Jima, inspiration for the citizens of the United States that there were people who were never going to abandon them in a time of crisis.
In the aftermath, on September 12th we came together as a nation, in solidarity against the enemies of peace and freedom who had attacked us, on that day a lot of the nonsense was put aside so we could be together, as Americans.
Several weeks later, this mural appeared in NYC, overlooking the site of the attack, a work of pure patriotism, beauty and love. It wasn’t until almost a year later that it slipped out, the mural was the art of comedian Yakov Smirnoff, who had paid for the giant mural to be put up, all from his own pocket to give people hope for the future and how we needed to stick together, as Americans.
On September 12, 2001, we were the America we are supposed to be everyday, coming together as One Nation Indivisible.
Since then, too many have forgotten, many are in defiance of what 9/12 stood for, coming together, they are purposely trying to divide our nation because they know how strong we are together.
We’ve allowed the enemies of peace to gain national political office in our country, disgracing the memory of those who were MURDERED on 9/11. We should be embarrassed for how much we’ve forgotten! We need to stand up and remove the enemies of peace and freedom from their offices.
Remember since of 9/11 isn’t just about remembering but it’s also about Vigilance and Duty, standing up against those who would destroy us, especially from within.
